Most mornings when Laura wakes up we go outside to say “Hello World.” It’s a nice little way to start the day and seems to get me out of my head and into the beautiful earth we live on. Now she’s two she’s starting to understand when I talk about being grateful for our life and she’s noticing the beautiful things around us as much as I do.
My good friend Veronika had a birthday last month, and she had great music blaring the whole time. A song came on, Veronika grabbed our hands and draged us into an open space in the back yard to dance. It was such a catchy tune with such a beautiful uplifting beat that as we danced I thought of all how perfect life is…. Not because it’s perfect, but because at that moment my heart was filled with love and happiness and gratitude for all that I have. The song was Blessed is this life, by Brett Dennen and it’s been in my head… just rattling about since then.
I finally caught up with Veronika and borrowed her CD today and have been dancing about to it all afternoon! The chorus of the song is “blessed is this life and I’m gonna celebrate being alive.” It sums up perfectly how I want to live my life and also the values that I want to give our Children.
Each moment is to be respected, even if it’s horrible or challenging, it will never be again. Particularly with young kids I’m reminded daily how important it is in life to be truely present, time passes quickly and this song for me was the perfect reminder of how I do truely want to celebrate life.
