What is online positive psychology coaching?

Online Positive psychology coaching has evolved from the new field of positive psychology. It’s then been blended with the skills of coaching to support individuals to reach their potential. In answering the question “what is positive psychology coaching?’ Kauffman, Boniwell, and Silberman (2010) state that “Positive Psychology Coaching is a scientifically-rooted approach to helping clients increase well-being, enhance and apply strengths, improve performance, and achieve valued goals.”

Within the field of positive psychology there are assessments, frameworks and interventions that have a solid evidence base indicating the way in which they support and enable wellbeing. When a coach has these tools at hand, they greatly accelerate your wellbeing & success journey.

Online Positive Psychology coaching is multi faceted. In my online positive psychology coaching program, weather you’re from Wollongong, Melbourne or Sydney, you’ll:

  • identify personal strengths
  • develop strategies to manage stress and negative thoughts
  • learn the essential twelve strategies to improve happiness
  • discover life values and how to live them
  • learn how your brain works in order to improve willpower
  • explore where meaning and purpose come from
  • set goals and nurture motivation
  • improve communication skills and relationships and
  • create habits to support your long-term happiness and success.

What is life coaching?

Life coaching is based on the understanding that the client already has the answers, they simply need to be asked the right questions. Life coaching is about supporting an individual to be their best and inspire them to think in new and more optimistic directions. The success of the program lies in the ability of the coach to connect with and inspire the client. A coach’s role isn’t to give advice or just listen, rather to actively help you discern new ideas and figure out how to apply them to your advantage.

Life coaching rests on the premise that the client has all the answers within. Great questions simply help them develop understanding and create positive momentum. I began my practice as a life coach in Wollongong, however after 4 years began to feel I could be doing more to support and enable my clients. It was then that I discovered the field of positive psychology and achieved my Diploma of Positive Psychology. Finding how successful positive psychology coaching is, I recently completed my Masters in Applied Positive Psychology at Melbourne University. Now I use online positive psychology coaching with clients from Sydney, Hobart, Melbourne, Brisbane and across to Perth. Working online with clients has become easier and more effective for everyone.

What’s the difference between life coaching and online positive psychology coaching?

An online session with a life coach will help you understand yourself better, explore solutions and opportunities and feel motivated. A session with an online positive psychology coach on the other hand, will have you understanding yourself, human nature and your situation. Online positive psychology coaching will help you explore initiatives that have proven effective for others.

Life coaching is a little like having a cheer squad. They will help you, support you and guide you. Their strength lies in their dedication and energy, as opposed to their knowledge and resources.

Online Positive psychology coaching is more like having a whole team of professionals that enable your success. Positive psychology gives a coach a depth of knowledge around motivation, strategy, goal setting, communication, mindset and health. Positive psychology rests on science of wellbeing. We stand on the shoulders of giants, and together see much further.

I hope that helps you understand ‘what onine positive psychology coaching is’ and the difference between online positive psychology coaching and life coaching. If you’re interested in learning more or have specific questions, please get in touch.
